Maintenance Care
In the United States, we are fortunate to have the best health care available in the world. Unfortunately, health care is not inexpensive. As a result, many of us wait until we have serious pain or symptoms before we seek help.
We have all heard that “prevention is the best cure.” This certainly applies to our health. Under our current system, very few insurance companies are willing to pay for “preventive” or “maintenance” health care.
In our office, we have a special program to address this need. When a person reaches a level of stability, at which time the insurance company no longer assumes responsibility to further care, we provide an option of relatively low-cost “well-patient care.”
The idea is to catch small problems before they become bigger problems. Scheduling of appointments is at regular, approximately monthly, intervals depending on your condition or needs. Of course, new injuries or significant flare-ups are not addressed as “well-patient care” as these generally require a bit more time and evaluation to manage adequately.
We sincerely hope that this option fills a need for a significant number of our patients. Please let us know if this is an approach that interests you. Remember, prevention is the best cure.
